Leaving 9 players out of his Uefa Cup squad, who does he think he is.

He is prioritising the premier league. He's not going to win the fcuking thing, so he is prioritising his push for European qualification next season by sacrificing this seasons current campaign, doesnt make sense. Wasting a season, and a place in the trophy that the majority of teams in europe would gladly have, cnut. (n)(n)
 

After the first leg, they are out anyway.

He knows that. No chance they will go to CSKA and get a win or a high scoring draw.

If it was purely resting his team for the run in, he would have fielded a below strength team in their first leg.
 
There are going to be Villa fans flying to Russia to see the reserves get anihilated, its wrong.

Ye, but not if next year their flying to places like Baca to see them in the champions league.

I get what your saying mate. He should really play his strongest team. But Finishing in the top4 in the prioraty for any team nowadays. Sad but true.

But it's not as if Villa are gonna win the Champions League next season.

He's sacrificing silverware for a chance to let the Big European clubs walk all over them. Next yaer (if they actually finish 4th and thennget past the qualifiers) they'll come bottom of their group stage.

Bolton did it last year - but in all honesty Rangers:P got to the final for fecks sake last year - I rest my case!

WTF did O'Neill enter the intertoto for if he wants to give it all up???? Last I checked Villa haven't won anything in a while. This would be the equivalent of Moyes throwing out the reserve side against Fiorentina becasue we down 2-0 becasue we had a shot at 4th last year.

I agree.

There's no guarantee that this won't rebound on him either. Some of his players went public about wanting to put up a good fight in the Cup and look at what ours have said about how the UEFA kept them going during their run (and the disappointment once we went out). Is it worth it for saving the extra game's wear and tear on his players? The season goes on for a few months yet.

I would have been extremely hacked off if DM had done this against Fiorentina.
