I have no problem signing an experienced keeper, if he is going to be better than our current one. Howard holds the position. How many starts//appearances did either Mucha or Hahnemann have for the first team this year?

Would seem a waste of a wage and a transfer fee (unless he is a Bosman, didn't see on the article) for someone who will inevitably waste away on the bench (same as Mucha and Hahnemann). Would make more fiscal sense to just ship off the excess and promote Davies, who has been playing pretty regularly recently for the reserves (not sure how quality he is tbh)

Edit: I'm not saying Howard can't be ousted, just saying that even when competition was brought in, Moyes' stuck with Howard for 100% of the time.

I can see where your coming from. I can't see a point in getting another no.2 either. IMO keeper is an area we can improve and this guy may do it. We know Moyes has favourites but if this fella's better, and I think he might be, then he'd be a fool to perservere with Howard.

Clearly Jan want's away and Hahnemann's about 90. I don't know about the younger keepers at the club but I'd love to see one step up. I can't see Moyes giving them the chance as he never with Ruddy who's a far better keeper than Howard.

Personally, I think Howard has been immense for us over the past couple of seasons (American bias maybe), but do agree that he has been slipping up a lot more during the past 2 years. Also wish that he would command his box a bit better and take control of the defensive unit as a whole.

Those are the areas I think he could and should improve in, and if someone were to come along and oust him for the place because they do that better than Howard, and still maintain his quality of actual goalkeeping, I agree, Moyes would have to be a fool to persevere with him.

I think its safe to say we will be getting rid of Mucha this summer, can't imagine he wants to be rotting away on the bench when he is a full international. Hahnemann isn't bad cover as we signed im on a free, wonder what kind of wages each of them take in????

Also, as for the youth keepers, I think just promoting him to the bench in case something were to happen to Howard, or giving them some time in the early stages of the cups next year would help give us an idea if we need to sign a no. 2 or have one on the books already.
