what does he have to do to get a call up to the spanish squad????????????

i know the eye poke was daft, i know the competition is right up there, i know this may have been covered before and i know i have come back from the local in a happy mood today but still..........

garcia and the spanish kilbane are not fit to lace his boots and they have had the phone call he wants.

come on spain, you would only get better.

Preliminary 30 man Spain roster confirmed. No Arteta.

Disappointing, if not completely surprising. 23 was always going to be tough but thought he had shot at 30 man w/ some of the recent midfield scares.

There's always been this understood "excuse" that he's got Xavi & Iniesta ahead of him. Ok, sure, they're ahead of him. But there aren't too many other Spanish midfielders that I'd take over him.

I'm wondering if he cheesed someone at the Spanish Federation off so that he's been blackballed.

It really doesn't make any sense that he hasn't even been called up.

Yeah Bill, granted we're partial to him but just doesn't seem kosher. I think Senna was their top player at Euros. Yet he's aged A LOT in 2 years. But that doesn't change the message-Spain has long been accused of needing that extra bite, edge. Well Senna gave it to them. And you know what? I think mikel has that in spades. He may not be a pure dmid like senna but he's got fire, his stay in the top league - a very physical league - has hardened & polished him into exactly the type of player Spain has been missing for all these years. He's skilled, creative, high work rate, can clearly stand up to any physicality dished his way. Hate to say it but I think the emergence of Busquets (a bit overrated for me at present, but one for the future no doubt) combined w/ his childhood mate Alonso are his primary roadblocks.

Sorry, still not buying this.

It's a shame. Arteta would have been an asset to their Squad. They may be missing him once they get to South Africa. Didn't Pele pick them to win it all...hope not. He is [Poor language removed] when it comes to picking a winner.

Atleast he will get a full preseason and I will see our best player in brisbane. He can just carve up at euro 2012. Someone want to tell me why sergi busquets is in instead of him, diving [Poor language removed].
