ARTETA RECEPTION

He should get a good reception and the respect he deserves, for his time at GP he was our most creative outlet. Yes his last season was poor (by his standards), but we had 6 seasons for a £2.5m transfer fee and sold him for 4 times that price. Good business. Always conducted himself well and was a pleasure to watch in an Everton shirt. Good luck to the lad, but time for us to move on.

I have this vision of everybody singing Follow Follow at the end of the match, balling their eyes out, and Mikel coming over also balling and clapping.

:'( I miss you Mikel ffs.

What I am saying is that I don't think the Club can AFFORD to be paying any player £75K per week in our current financial & performance situation. We need to get real. Accepting that we are currently a part of the 'second tier of the Premier League', I doubt many of the clubs around us are paying salaries of that amount.
Circa £50K should be about our maximum (until such times as we generate more revenue from e.g. consistently progressing to the later rounds of the cups and hopefully more stints in the Europa League).
If that isn't enough for the likes of Fellaini then, yes, the Club should consider selling him and bringing in a comparable replacement, unless Moyes isn't capable of that aspect of manageing a football team either.

Totally agree with this. It was trying to overstretch ourselves with the likes of Arteta's huge wages that landed us in debt in the first place, which is why we'll suffer for the next couple of years on the pitch. I can understand it as we were trying to force our way in to the Champions League and the board wanted to keep Moyes with the club. Shame we didn't manage it.

We should have a new stadium by now but the board has let the fans down, likewise with their failed attempts at finding investment. I don't think the board runs the club badly in general terms but on the two most important factors that will effect the clubs long term future they've repeatedly failed. That's my biggest worry.

About Arteta, I think he's proving that it was Moyes' tactics and how he employed him that was the problem rather than an issue with the players fitness\form as a result of his injuries.

Quite alot of our fans realised that but many used to diss Arteta over the last couple of years, which is a shame when it was Moyes' fault. Moyes is a master at ruining creative talent, Rooney probably would have ended up playing like Heskey if he'd stayed with us for long enough.

Heard some southern Blue (Pete) on talk sport this morning. They were talking about Mikel and do we miss him. He reckoned yes, but Ossie can do the job (when he's in the mood) and Bily maybe could if he was given a run in CM and stops being a bit of a lightweight! He also said how we Evertonians are fed up with 4-5-1 at home and maybe a front two of Saha and Velli or Magaye is worth a try from the start. Maybe today is not the time for 4-4-2 but I thought it was a good shout myself. If you're on here Pete, then (y)

WHAT IS HE DOING WITH THOSE TWO KOPITES MIKEL YOU ARE NOTHING TO ME NOW.

He came into our side and he was glorious. He was the best player of this era at Everton. What made him great was that he was creative and fearless. He was the most fouled player in the prem by a mile for 2-3 years straight, never complained and then his knee blew up. Then he had to change his game and never really had the impact but he bled for us. He deserves and will get a standing O when he returns to goodison. If he was so anxious to leave us then he had plenty of opportunities during his time here.

Just got back from the Emirates, yes to be fair he got a good reception, he even applauded the Everton fans as he took his first corner
