He's out for the last 2 games - Official EFC website http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/mikel-out-for-season.html
Mikel Arteta will not feature again this season according to David Moyes.
Moyes has admitted that the Spaniard will not be included in the squad for Sunday’s away clash with Arsenal or indeed the final game of the season against Newcastle United.
The Spaniard has been struggling with an abdominal injury throughout the second half of the season and although Moyes thinks that Arteta’s form has been affected by the niggling injury, he reckons that the clever playmaker will be sorely missed in the final two games of the season.
The Goodison Boss said: “He’s had an injury and hasn’t been comfortable with since maybe Christmas time. We’ve given him opportunities to go back to Spain and see a specialist who he wants to work with over there.
“He’s played some games, he’s missed training and I think that it is affecting his form. So I think that in fairness I think that we have to say that he will be out and won’t feature until the start of next season.
“But we’ll do everything we can and he is doing everything he can to get himself back fit.”
The Blues also face doubts over Steven Pienaar and Andrew Johnson who are set to undergo late fitness tests in the wake of the crucial game at the Emirates.
Moyes added: “We’ve one or two other knocks and niggles.
“Andy Johnson has a problem with his calf which we need to check out. Pienaar has also got a problem with his knee but I hope to have what’s close to a fully fit squad for the game.”
Big Manny should do alright for the last few games.
