I've believed for some time that our play could be improved if we saw less of mighty Mikel when it comes to dead ball situations, he takes everyone, a high proportion of which are crap (dons flak jacket but I've said it) How many times do you see him fail to clear the first man either at free kicks or corners, normally because he's trying to over do the swerve on the ball, it gains no height. And why does he always hold two arms in the air, its the same everytime, I think, if its supposed to be a signal as to a short or long ball the potential targets must great frustrated by poor delivery. I know some get through, and I know that some are gems but his failure rate is high, very high in some games.

I think we should allow others to 'have a go', Leighton Baines has a cracking shot on him but never gets the chance, Lee Carsley and Leon Osman can also hit great balls but every time its Teta.

I hope I'm not alone in this but I feel that we'd be better if we were not that predictable

I think youre being a bit too critical, but most of what your saying is correct...

...but even though you are fustrated - never suggest osman to take freekicks!!!

Im never sure with Arteta however, i dont think his corners are bad, they just have been as of late...

His crosses in play are good i think, but when he has time to think about them with freekicks by the wing normally, as you say, he doesnt beat the first man. So my suggestions...

Att. Freekick (left sideline) -

Baines, Valente, Arteta, Mcfadden

Att. Freekick (right sideline) -

Neville, Arteta, Jagielka, Mcfadden

Freekick on goal -

Arteta, Stubbs, Carsley (if he puts the power on it), maybe mcfadden too...

Corners -

Arteta, Gravesen

Artetas very inconsistent with set pieces, 2 season ago he was gret with them, and last season he wasnt too bad either, so i wouldnt take him off them, just rotate a little bit more...

...Personally id like to see Baines take a few

I said something very similar a couple of weeks ago about the amount of balls he sends sailling over the bar from a very promising free kick position. He's never been very good at shooting from free-kicks in my opinion with the amount he's had you'd expect a much higher return of goals from him.

Let baines sort out all of the shots on goal from freekicks.

When Arteta isn't having a good day with his free kicks he or Moyes get someone else to do it. I don't think he's hogging it.

He can fizz brilliant balls in, but inconsistently. I would keep him taking corners because they're outstanding 99% of the time. Free kicks... when its on the outside edges of the box, almost like a corner position, I'd let him take as well.

His shots from in front of the goal are usually too high, but who else can curl a ball over a wall? We do have players who can drill it which is the other option but we should rotate that option.

Valente can put in good balls from the left which I wouldnt mind and Neville isnt too bad on the right either. Lots of options and combinations and I think there should just be a bit more rotation. Who knows, maybe if we let other players take as many set pieces as Arteta, they'd also be inconsistent.

it might be down to attitude, do the players know arteta is the best dead ball striker or is it a case of not wanting to get his nose bent out of shape.

he certainly has the quality - perhaps if he just thought about it a little more he might deliver more often.

Dom, what a well thought out response, it is something on these lines that we need to adopt because we are so very predictable with Teta doing the same thing over and over again. He at least now manages to swing the ball in at corners, he went through that phase where he swung it out of play........and that did piss me off. I would also like to see him employ his quick reactions in the box more often, with others taking the kicks his goal return would increase I'm sure.
