Pat was also very good at centre half in 86/87 while we had half our best players out but still pissed the title.

He also lamped David Speedie.

As an out and out defender you are right, but Baines adds another dimension with his dead ball ability.....

Wouldn't really class him as an everton player to be fair. Wasn't even a first team regular.

Could start throwing materazzi or keown about if we class Rooney lol

How can you not class him as an Everton player....we made him, we played him, we loved him, we sold him.....and we'd have him back like a shot if we had any money.........

oh not doubting the talent. But he was never here long enough to established himself and become a key player...he was about to before moving on.

Think it'd be a disservice to players that grafted for years and won things to consider Rooney in an everton greats team

Arteta held us back, how many counter attacks had he stopped dead by farting about on the ball and playing a pass sideways.

How many free kicks or Corners did he squander in really good positions. Every time he stepped up to take a free kick or corner, a little piece of me died seeing Baines stood next to him.

We should try and sign Mikel back at some point just to have done with it and hang the judas snide , he was badly gash the whole time he was here , holding us back all that time .
