Arshavin

Why is it too late? The simple fact is that it's not. Who would have thought Michael Owen would have joined Man Utd, injury prone and past it? 30 is not 34 and Arshavin is quality. Donovan is also 29/30 but I would not object to us spending £7m on him and making him a fixture on the right-wing. We spent £15m on Fellaini but whether he's 22 or 28 we won't be getting £15m back for him, regardless of what the papers say or what some naive fans believe. We also spent £5m on Distin because the situation merited it. I'd love it if we showed some ambition and creativity by showing desire to sign Arshavin!

1 -- So you want to spend a fortune on a player with no resale value

2 -- You don't think Fellaini is worth 15mil

3 -- You think its ambitious to sign older players

4 - -You seem to think signing Owen was an Alex Ferguson masterstroke

Have I got that right ?

Football is not just about signing players with resale value you know. Like Distin. Yes I don't think Fellaini was worth us, EVERTON, in our position, forking out £15m at that time. I don't think any team in the world would pay £15m for him now. I doubt he'll be first choice CM for Belgium soon enough. My point about signing oldish players was that it's not always about resale value. And Arshavin would not cost a fortune. £8m or £9m is not a fortune. Signing Own was not a masterstroke but was to illustrate my point. You seem to have missed it entirely. Yakubu had resale value eh at £11m? How much we gonna get for him now? You think Fellaini is better than Arshavin?

Have I got that right?

By the way, your 'Have I got that right?' to your dubious insinuations doesn't lend you any extra leverage in whatever opinion you were trying to spout as the only and correct one. And p.s. I'm behind Fellaini and want him to prove a big success here in the coming years.

Hi ToffeeBlueNose.

Moyes has Hibbert, Neville, Coleman and even Jagielka and Heitinga for right-back so I doubt very much we'll be signing a first-team right-back this summer! Distin is our only real cover for Baines, so I think a left-back is more likely, though if we sign one, I'm sure Man City will be readying a £24m+ bid for Baines. Arshavin would be an ideal signing for me, regardless of his lack of out and out winger qualities. Goodison Park would be a much happier place with Arshavin around, who I rate as World-Class.

Agree with ALL of that (y)

i'd have him in a heartbeat to be honest. given playing time and a key creative role in the team i think he'd be awesome. regardless of how bad his last season was, it couldnt have been much worse that mikel's. but lets put this into perspective, 8-10m is about 7.5-9.5m too much for us let alone wages plus he's 30.

You're right, I'd much prefer Arsharvin playing as a holding midfielder than Fellaini, he's much better than him. I mean Belgium don't need Fellaini cos' they've got that good goalkeeper right??

Your logic is f'kin water tight.

Throwing in examples of players who got crocked and now aren't worth the money we paid, 3 years on? Wow....I'm filing you under "genius".

Are you saying Fellaini isent worth 15m

im gonna be controversial and say ...... imo fellaini is the best assett we have at the club and also has the potential to be one of evertons greatest talents ever.
when he has been on his game , he has stood out a mile and made usual good prem players look like scared little kids. the only person i can think of this season who has commanded a game as well as fellaini is xavi for barcelona.
i really hopes he loves the club enough to stick around for a very long time . i also hope his injuries dont plague him.
he is the player moyes should build his team around.

In short, Arshavin wouldn't come to us. He turned us down before and he's played on a bigger stage than we can offer him currently, so while it'd be nice to buy a player with undoubted talent who has lost form - we simply won't.

On his day he's a fantastic player, but he said when he went to Arsenal that he saw them as a stepping stone to Barcelona. So, I couldn't see him wanting to come to us. Anyway, he's too old, too expensive, too small and he doesn't have the Moyes work ethic.
Now stop that right this minute.
I kind of agree with the rest though
