Just been debating this in the office.

If Arsenal sell Fabregas and Nasri as anticipated, who do you think Wenger would consider as suitable replacements?

Personally I reckon, Song and Wilshere are nailed on for two of the three CM slots, leaving only Abou Diaby, Ramsay and Rosicky to compete for the third spot.
Based on that, I'd say they are going to need two new creative central midfielders.

Kesiuke Honda?
Alan Dzagoev?

Any suggestions? Who would YOU sign if you were Wenger?

Madrid have already bought Sahin, haven't they? He would have fit the bill quite nicely for Arsenal. I'd go for that Eriksen or Siem De Jong from Ajax if you're building for the future which he normally is, or spunk all the money on De Rossi and finally have that bit of steel they need

To be honest, a midfield made up from Arshavin, Wilshere, Ramsey, Rosicky, Diaby, Walcott and Song isn't terrible, but for a team like Arsenal who are in dire need for a trophy (who isn't), to lose Narsi and Fabregas is a big kick in the chuff. A couple of days before the league starts, they could still do with a keeper, a defender and what looks like 2 midfielders...oh and more importantly a Captain.

Gervinho should be interesting, I'm not totally sold on him, but he's looked good at times when I've seen him. Will they play him up front with Van Persie? Chamakh seems to be the back up plan in their strike force

He's always building for the future.

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be asking when the future becomes the present.

If I was an Arsenal fan, I'd be over the fecking moon to get to watch a team in the champions league, who compete for trophies every year, play some great stuff and have around about £50 million pounds to spend. And have either won or been runners up in 15 trophies since Arsene took over, while in the same time we've been in one final, which we lost.

Just sayin, like.

But you wouldn't, because no one appreciates what they have until it's gone.

Everyone envies someone. It's human nature; people are never satisfied.*

*unless they're in bed with JDawg.

True, I just think the way the act like a six year trophy drought is the end of the world and boo their own team in friendlies is beyond embarrassing.

I know fans of clubs who are in real trouble like Southport or Lincoln or Oxford and yet still moan less. Hell, if you're talking trophy drought's I live in Durham now and between them Newcastle and Sunderland haven't won squat in more than fifty years.

And that's not even to mention ourselves,

I know exactly what you mean, mate. I hate Arsenal, their fans, their players, their manager and even their shirt ffs.

I didn't used to, but last year especially in our games against them they showed themselves up as ultra snides.

They need established players that are born winners, Snjeider and Johnny would be good signings for them

Sahin has gone. I would think that he feels it may be time to buy someone for the 'now' rather than the future this time.

In terms of their line up, he tends to plump for 4-3-3 from which I'd imagine van Persie to be the central striker with Gervinho, Walcott, Arshavin as the wide options. Gervinho served a similar role for Lille last year, coming in off the right flank to support Sow (with the RFUS fap enducing, Hazard doing the same from the left). He's quick, direct and will probably score goals. Had he been a midfielder and not a forward he'd a been a cert for my FF team.

The other one they have is Lansbury, after three seasons out on loan in the Championship might be ready to step up. Looked half decent in a poor Eng U21 side when he came off the bench.

I do think that they need a creative. A string puller though. Honda jumps out at me as the perfect signing for them as he adds a little more presence to the mix too, as would this wee beasty; Josip Iličić, he's a monster and he can play.

In all likelihood there'll be a £1m sign for a kid from Gillingham Reserves and Emmanuel Eboue marauding down the right...
