A fair point. And it's exacerbated when those humam beings realise that the players earn, sorry are given (for nobody earns that amount) more in a week than most normal people do in a year.

Nonetheless I still feel that this understandable negativity has contributed to the depth of the hole we are in.
We really could do with trying to turn a blind eye to the wages they are paid though because it's top end sport. Anyone at that level gets paid ridiculous money.

You are spot on though, it's human nature to not turn a blind eye to it as it's incredibly annoying but it is what it is.

The problems at Everton are the same as others who were big clubs back in the day and still see themselves as just a billionaire or three short of returning to the glory days. Unfortunately, times have moved on and even an influx of tainted petrodollars will no longer turn an Everton into a Barcelona! The game is international like never before and the new fans don't care about past history. The glamour isn't there and the already rich superstar players don't want to play for teams who will never be anything special, especially if they can't live in London or Madrid or Paris! A team like Everton can certainly improve with serious money if it's spent in sensible ways and the owners and fans are patient and prepared to build the team over time. However, that virtue is seriously lacking these days. Glaring mistakes aside from Moshiri, I suspect we may well be in the relatively same mid-table position in a few years unless there is a change of entitlement and a winding down of misdirected toxicity from an increasingly swelling proportion of our fanbase.

Yes and as well as that they're playing against players who are also on big wages so that cancels that out.

Also, if we started to not buy players because we refused to pay over fan wages then we'd all kick off over it

Everton fans are a unique paradox they possess implausible lofty expectations bred from nostalgia but yet are coupled with a pervasive cynicism that provides unrelenting scrutiny of the team. But no they're not to blame. An abundance of asinine decisions from the owners led to our recent debacles and current predicament.

Has Benitez been sacked yet? It's Monday. Why are we waiting? Don't blame us if he's still here next Saturday and Villa beat us.
