Are we part of the top 7 or top of the bottom 14

In footballing terms I see us as Top 7.

Like for like I see only marginal differences between us and Liverpool for example, only they being the global tourist brand are guaranteed status whatever their position. They expect and demand success, we, as a club, are not vocal with our ambition, only in a vague sense. That in itself, needs to change.

Perception wise, I see us as one of the 14, only with bigger recognition and history. Outside the set of darling clubs and still referred to as a footnote.

A lot of damage has been done in the last two seasons under Martinez.

Spurs have clearly overtaken us as the leading club on the coat-tails of the establishment, and then some, though they may feel they are still the poor relation within that group.

We will have to crack the Top 4 to be seen as part of the mix, and probably do it more than once to be taken seriously rather than a potential flash in the pan. Delivering on big-money transfers would also help, of course.
 

I'm not too bothered one way or the other.

When the words "title" and "contenders" come after "Everton", I'll start being bothered again...
 
Such a sad question to even ask, considering our great past. As a fan who witnessed first hand the Holy Trinity, and then later the success in the eighties, it is so frustrating to me how we missed the boat when the PL was formed, and have been playing catch-up ever since. Our average PL position over the years makes grim reading.

Historically, before the PL era, we were a top three side, whereas ever since PL formation, we have basically slummed it with the "also-ran" pack. It is a shame that there are fans today, who in their lifetime, have never experienced the joy and excitement of following a title challenging Everton team, and have known only mediocre, middle of the table drudgery, interspersed with the occasional cup, or flirtation in Europe.

To answer the question, I have always considered Everton as a top 4 or even top 3 team, that have just been going through a rough time of it :). We'll be back. Just a matter of time. We are, after all, a real team with real fans, no matter our position.
 

Bottom 14 for sure imo . The top 6 have opened a gap between themselves and us but it can be erased with some a handful of quality signings

5th, 7th 10th . It's all the same imo
