One wonders how the schedule of league and European football interrupted United's football that season. Especially with the FA being as draconian as it was.

Wouldn't have made that much difference. Three league defeats in September for United handed Wolves the initiative they never from then on looked like losing. United's 1st round Euro Cup opposition was Irish and were relative easybeats. The league season's shape, with Wolves forging clear, was settled before the serious European stuff began.

You ask the people who barely pay attention to the sport and they wont even know there's 2 teams in Manchester. Manchester New Money may become a bigger brand in the future but right now they can't even dominate the English game after spunking hundreds of millions year in year out.

As hell as like they're not - but the fashion of the day is to say you are: If Brentford suddenly got some Oligarchs money and eclipsed Chelsea would that make them "bigger"? On the day maybe. So it's going to take a decade of dominance and United completely out of it for City to have the bragging rights - plus they need a few European trophies - not just the one. I'm reminded of the old Brian Labone saying - adapted for titles - 1 or 2 = 20. Not in this case it isn't.

Further to this, while we'd love their European cup title, Chelsea would kill for our honours list as a whole.

Oh, and United are still miles bigger than City.

Sadly, I think that Chelsea will add to theirs quicker than we will. That being said, I really couldnt care less these days. Love being a blue. Thats all. Bigger, better, stronger , faster? NEA.

By far the greatest thing about being an Evertonian is that you will never be associated with the garbage that seem to attach themselves to the likes of the Sky clubs.

And not one club, probably in world footie, would have been able to do the JFT 96 thing we did against Newcastle as well as we did. Not one. Thats BIG to me.

City are considered as one of the bigger clubs these days primarily because of their financial potency and stadium rather than their history; historically we are a far bigger club than City but are regarded as inferior to the likes of Chelsea and City down to the fact we have no money and a stadium, which is fantastic in a sentimental and historic and atmospheric way, does not match facility wise to the likes of the Etihad. Until we receive significant investment and rejuvenate or change Goodison, whilst retaining the history which the old lady has in abudance, we'll be regarded as inferior to City. History is irrelevant in football these days but I'd rather be sat on wooden seats, nursing a pint of Chang watching the famous blue and whites than be sat in a luxury stadium next to plastic fans like over the park, waving plastic flags, eating pizzas and not having a clue what the hell is taking place before them.
We're the biggest club and more importantly the best IMO (sorry for the cheese!)
