April 4th 1987 - one of the best fan quips ever

I remember Watford away around the same time (March/April) and it was a live game on the Sunday. We either drew or lost and I was convinced we'd blown it. The Arsenal/Chelsea double-header put us right back in it, and the RS had a wobble in that league cup final and then a league game or two and we drove on past them. Aside from the Derby (famous for the Sheedy v sign to the Kop!) we never looked back

Hang on.

The day we won at Arsenal

Did Wimbledon not go to The Pit and beat the RS to blow the title race wide open?

It's all coming back to me now ;)

All this Charlton talk reminds me of the first time "Operation Goodison" was announced mid match !
If memory serves me right Colin Harvey had an operation so Terry Darracott was temporary manager , we never won a game and we where playing Charlton at home .
Midway through an awful second half the PA went "Execute Operation Goodison Execute Operation Goodison"
There was complete silence in the crowd as this had never been heard before.
Amid this complete silence someone piped up "Execute Terrence Darracott"
Ha ha , I suppose you had to be there at the time , was sat in the Main Stand and it was in complete bulk , hats off to you sir whoever you are !

I thought it was Chelsea then Arsenal. Will someone please put us out of our misery. Great eight day though either way, 6 pts on the road.

Oh I can tell you for certain.

Arsenal came first......Star Of A Gunner won the Lincoln.

Then Chelsea.....Maori Venture won the National.

;)

I do remember the League Cup Final being the day after the Chelsea game, as for some reason, there was a RS fan in the Everton end. Brave man.

I was there. If I remember right, the [Poor language removed] played the Gooners the following day in a littlewoods cup final.

For all you old lads struggling ( I could only remember the away games and West Ham) just looked at Everton results.com, from that Watford live game on the Sunday that we lost and it looked like the it was over, we won 7 on the bounce, highlights Clarkes chip at Arsenal ( was that the year that some done time for mither before the game?) the same day that Wimbledon won, following week lashing it down at Chelsea, then 4 nil v West Ham then 12,000 - 15,000 at Villa. A crest of a wave that I thought wasn't going to end.

Does anyone remember the West Ham home game the following week when we won 4-0?

Pretty such that was a 12noon kick off, for some reason. Wasn't for tv, as this was 1987.
