IS IT MY IMAGINATION
OR HAVE WE FINALLY FOUND.... SOMETHING WORTH SINGING FOR,
WHEN YOUR LOOKING FOR SOME ACTION
JUST FEED THE YAK AND HE WILL SCORE

YOU CAN WAIT FOR A LIFETIME
TO LIFT A CUP IN THE SUNSHINE
BUT IF YOU FEED THE YAK
YOU KNOW HE'LL MAKE IT HAPPEN

-------------------------------------------------------------------

YOUR DREAMING
JUST STICK THAT AJ ON
AND WHEN THE BALL COMES IN
HE'LL STICK IN THE NET
I'D PLACE A 10P BET

I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY, LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY

IS IT MY IMAGINATION

WHEN YOUR LOOKING FOR SOME ACTION
JUST FEED THE YAK AND HE WILL SCORE

YOU CAN WAIT FOR A LIFETIME

WHEN I READ THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS KYLIE MINOGUE NOT OASIS HAHA

Everton have a great history of singing, we've been singing songs at Goodison since at least the 1920s.

Liverpool are only recognisedfor it because they're End Stand is a better design for atmosphere

they sing, and they sing loud in unison, gobshites the lot of them but thats one thing i envy them of, i wish we made noise like them...we chant ancient chants, they churn out song after song and sing it.

In big games they sing. Other than that Anfield is one of the quietest grounds in the Prem. Goodison's louder and that's saying something.

You only have to read threads like this to see that Everton fans can come up with their own good songs. The problem is getting them started at the match.

Most people only sing at the match when everyone else does. The question then is how do you get the songs started off and to spread around the ground quickly and loudly to entice more fans into joining in with them.

Starting off the songs and joining in with them before they're loud takes bottle, and is a far easier to do when everyone around you is standing up. If you can get people into the singing to congregate ie go behind the goal lower Gwladys St, and stand up then you'll get more singing and those fans will be far more likely to start off their own songs and generally sing more.

If you can combine this with the singers being directly under a roof to help the songs spread quickly and loudly then there's more opportunity to entice more fans into joining in with them and more often.

So much of it is down to stadium design. Unfortunately Liverpool's kop is designed perfectly for this. They don't have louder voices than us, their songs aren't anything special they just got lucky with a properly designed End Stand.

its not just songs, i want us to go all fenerbache and panathinaikos. and how about that human lcd [Poor language removed] goin'on. by the looks of it so far there should be about 5 of us prepared to give it a go.
i reckon we should get bill to do something at a night game, we can tell him we wanna go all theatrical like. blue lasers, smoke and close harmony singing, oh and blue and yellow light sticks , turn off the floodlights and get it goin' on.
just imagine the teams comin' out to johnny todd with all that [Poor language removed] happening.

Sneak a few smoke bombs in too! I used to like the bog roll and confetti. With the expense for all the lasers it'd probably only be able to be done once or twice a season but then that could make it special.

To get the singing going though on a sustained basis then we badly need to stand up more. When we do the singing is great and often non stop. League Cup games have been great for that. It's the reason why I'm bemused about the new stadium having executive boxes behind the goal no-one will feel comfortable standing up with them directly behind them. They should change it and double them up on the sides. When you have the first row standing up then it 'll cause the entire stand, first row to last, to be up on their feet with all singers at the back directly under the roof to get the songs as lod as pooss for everyone else to join in with it. Add that noise to the visual effects you mention, going on behind both goals. We'll be the envy of Europe!!

i sit right behind the goal in lower gwladys and occasionally when some1 tries to start a song of they get laughed at, it seems that if the song doesnt originate from the very back of the lower gwladys it doesnt get started at all

The National Year for Reading are celebrating the creative, and inventive, way fans come up with chants for their favourite players/managers, rivals etc.

So I need all you true fans to tell me what new chants will be ringing from the rafters at the Goodison Park next season???

Bit harsh people laughing at someone for starting off a song there! 95% of the songs probably are started off at the back where I go.

It takes bottle to start off the songs and it's a lot easier to do when around you is standing up, I guess you don't feel as self concious. Also at the back at the Gwladys Street its nice and dark so you feel more anonymous again making it easier to start them off.

What us at the back need is for you lot at the front to stand up as much as possible forcing everyone behind to stand up. That way we can get the songs going more often.

The new stadium though will be a bugger for us, when you lot at the front stand up we will be as soon as you sit down we will, we'll be in the open, exec box directly behind us, no roof directly above us, so the songs wont spread. It could not be worse for getting the songs going.

God Save Arteta

To the tune of God save the Queen

God save Ar-teta
Long live Ar-teta
God Save Ar-teta

We'll be victorious
With the goals he'll score for us
Long may he play for us
God Save Ar-teta!
