arch stanton

Player Valuation: £60m
As I'm retiring from racing motorbikes I fancy doing more photography and I'll have a bit of spare cash to fund it.

My quandary is what level set up to go for. My thoughts are between an EOS 7d or a 5d but I'd like to know if anyone has made the step between these two to advise on their repsective pros and cons. I use a camera for part of my work, current workhorses are EOS 50d bodies; i use them in full manual mode so going to a lesser camera would annoy the feck out of me if it cant do what i want it to do. I know I will have to spend decent money on glass (I plan on buying a 300mm for motorsports stuff, a 50mm ish one for partraity snaps and a macro for some arty stuff) but there seems to be a bit of a price defference buying secondhand between the full and cropped frame bodies

As @formerly manx toffee says @Bilbo is your main man

Full frame and L glass is the way to go but be prepared to sell your first born. If you plan to make money the 5DS is stunning and lenses like the EF16-35mm f/4L IS USM for landscapes, a prime telezoom lens for your racing, and depending on how close you wanna go the the macro is the 100L or the 5:1 MP-E 65 (full manual lens).

Money is the object - if you have it, you'll load up your bag with genius equipment. If you want 50mm then the f/1.2L is the real choice.
