Player Valuation: £35m
I thought the 'Show us your instrument' thread may have been a good place to start this, but seems it's been locked, so just throwing it out there...

Long story, but are there any guitar players on here looking for a band? Quite strict criteria as I'm very choosy who I mingle with!
  • Experienced player eg @Old Blue 2 levels - age 45/50 plus
  • Must be able to sing
  • Needs to be in Liverpool area
  • Own transport

DM me if interested - no timewasters!!!!!! ;)

Thank you GOT classified ads (Danny @GrandOldTeam maybe an idea? :))

I've been playing for around 40 years. I'd still describe my guitaring as "clumsy". Can sing, but only play music I like - which tends to be protest songs, or songs about people who died down a mine, or songs about someone who accidentally shot his wife because their apron flapped in the wind and he mistook her for a Swan. I live in Wiltshire though and my classic XJ6 gives 15mpg on a good day. I'd rather not travel until a big record deal is guaranteed and I can afford to.

Hang on, the person has to play lead guitar - & sing - Is Joe Walsh available - plus what instrument do you play or are you just an agent for this band ? Any air guitarist will qualify ?

Plenty on here are experts on the banjo string....
The place for Gigs now must be hard to find - in my day most pubs & clubs all around were many - I saw some terrific bands in Liverpool - my favourite band was a trio of guys - who sold guitars in Rushworths music shop in the day & performed at the weekend - The Lettermen - I watched them in the old cavern backing an unknown band named Show Waddy - they got the most applause - the band that made it were rubbish ....
They performed first - three local lads & tore the place down - I walked out on the top act - IMO rubbish ...

It's a shame the Lettermen never made it ...musically a class act ....

@Old Blue 2 you're an axe man, right?
I was, until September 2022, when I was in hospital for a week with sepsis and a kidney infection. With that kind of health scare, I called time on my gigging, which started in January 1969 in the Liverpool night clubs when I was 18, and still at school. What I saw going down in the night clubs at that time, as a schoolboy, certainly opened my eyes to a lot of things!

But yeah, I was an 'axe man'.
From this, in Feb '71 (1970 Gibson SG Standard into a Marshall 100w plexi stack):

Wouldn't swap a second of it all for anything...

Ah, sorry to hear that mate, didn't realise you'd had to give it up. Thought you'd been a regular gigger though.

this new player, all he has to do is stick a bass drum on his back and a pair of cymbals between his knees and he dont need anyone else.

I play a bit but gigging days are long gone, cant sing and am a wool so would fail the paper sift.
