You can pay & write to the war office to fill in any blanks - google their relevant address online

They won't send results abroad. I'm trying regimental online history but up to now muster lists etc only show officers records

Often the Southern Ireland connection is a stumbling block as many of our fore father's came over without papers back then as they were allowed to do so ....

All my lines become near impossible to trace in the mid 1800s due to Ireland being occupied by the British, so no paperwork was needed for travelling over to Liverpool. Add to that that everyone has a traditional name that they share with about every 5th person.
