Advice needed Guys. What is the thinking on the best free anti virus software. I have at the moment just got MS essentials having removed Avast for the moment.

MS Security Essentials is actually not too bad.

I am using the Comodo Security Suite, which includes the AWESOME firewall and the AV isn't too shabby either.

I know absolutely nothing about Computers , but I tried the freebie - anti virus , on me old Comp' in the bedroom .
Moral of the story ; INVEST IN A NORTON . Uny about £ 25.00 .
Cheaper than a new lap-top .

I used AVG but it used a lot of memory so switched to Avast. Still get teh odd virus though! I find the simplest thing to do is just set a system restore point each day, so if you get a virus just set your comp back to the last day it ran virus-free.

LCAB, trust me on this, the free stuff is every bit as good as the paid version. In some cases better. Whatever virus you got, likely would have defeated Norton as well. It is all in the speed of the updates, if you don't have updated definitions, you are vulnerable. I could never recommend paying someone for AV protection. You may as well download the free stuff and send me the money instead.

I use Nod32 and comodo firewall, nothing gets in, unless im very stoned and let it in.

Comodo is free and lets just say I didnt pay for Nod32, but I think its cheaper than the others.

Thanks Guys, think I will stick to MS Essentials for the moment. But do fancy the Comodo pack that Dylan has. Will have to have a look at it.(y)
