Good anti-driveby spam idea I came across in another forum - automatically make first post(s) by new member need permission to publish from mod/admin. They can post but it doesn't go live until it is approved. Once post is approved they have normal posting privileges. If declined they are cast into outer darkness and the fruit of their loins cursed until the tenth generation.

So not too much workload on website management (only need to say yea/nay on new member posts) and effective on the [Poor language removed] like today's NSFW driveby.

We had a similar problem on TW back in the day, during non waking hours of europe or the US mods tend to be sleeping.

With Dylan back in the good old however, We are lacking a PST mod.

I've found that adding a simple question to the registration field gets around most spambots. You don't need to make them complicated "what number did Duncan wear?", "where do Everton play?", "what colour shirts do we wear?" that kind of thing.

Exactly, this kinda thing works a treat because bots don't aim at a particular forum they aim at thousands.

I assume the question has to have multiple choice answers to avoid people writing "blue & white bits" or... "home or away?"

If an Evertonian answer like that, he doesn't deserve to become a member here!
