How are Aston friggin' Villa in that?

And shouldn't we have had a shout as our kids won our domestic league at their level?

And the good old re****e never fail to entertain:

"Ah cant wait to see this, our academy is nearlly on par with barcelona. And before u manure fans say "no it isnt" google "guardiiola praises liverpool academy", in this he said that of all academies in europe liverpools is the closest barcelona's la masia", we have amazing youngsters... Raheem sterling, conor coady, andre wisdom, toni silva, adorjan, Alex o'hanlon, adam morgan, michael n'goo, tyrell belford, brad smith, matty regan and plenty more. I think it will be a close call between barca and liverpool fro the title!!!!!! Lets hope eurosport dont get the rights, the commentry is terrible"

An rs has given me my biggest giggle of the day so far in the comments section of that piece by claiming there academy set up is on a par with Barcas , always good for a laugh that lot . :D:D:D

The inaugural line-up has been determined by invitation and recommendation, influenced by the quality of each club’s academy. There is one more place to be confirmed.

Seriously???

We'll defo miss the boat on this one.

I'll be surprised if our board even know about it.

I like the way Spurs are in it....because there's not one young player they've brought into their team from their academy for about 10 years.

Cream of the crop: Manchester United are the current holders of the FA Youth Cup after victory last month over Sheffield United

Great! So I assume that Sheffield Utd take spot number two then!?

No?!

How odd!

We are fans of one unbelievably corrupt sport I'm afraid.

££££££ mate.

Conspiracy hat on...but all the clubs taking part apart from maybe the RS and Spurs need extra revenue for this ****ty Financial Fair Play thing. See as Arsenal arent in there or Real?

Its a money spinner. Good on em to be involved but we've missed the boat on it.

I could think of a shoitload of other teams with brilliant academies that should get there. Like, why is PSV in it but not Ajax? Wolfsburg! Where's Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund, the actual german giants? And how about Molde and Rosenborg? The latter has a massive pedigree and are easily the biggest, but Molde is a crap hick town that hasn't really produced anything useful since Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Who, by the way, isn't a product of their academy, he learned his trade at a local club Clausenengen, in Kristiansund, which is about an hour's drive + a ferry ride away. Just saying. I don't know who organized this **** but it's clearly bull****.

Oh, and by the way. We beat Villa. We beat Liverpool and City (and united) in our own league. Tottenham finished 4th in their league, after Villa, Leicester and Watford. What does this say about their academies? What a joke.

That Sterling lid is grudeingly the sniz though.

Must agree with that. He's quite a talent.

To be fair, Liverpool's academy in general isn't that bad. I don't think it's the best being honest, but I'm a blue who saw our academy beat theirs 4-0, and win the whole shabang to say they're the best in the country.

The only thing is they actually use their talent now and again ¬¬ the likes of Kelly, Flanagan, Spearing even though he's poo, they've all been playing of late. And we already know the players they've brought through before today.

They only bought that Sterling last year. Don't give them credit, like they've done all the work. Evidently they've used their bigger footballing name to attract a clearly top talent.

That's what the big teams get to do.

I'm not praising them for their "work", I remember they bought him from Charlton or QPR or something, one of them London clubs, there's still no doubt he's a top talent though.

Although to be fair, we've done that ourselves really, Mustafi, Orenuga, Garbutt, to name a few.
