Another interesting Everton article from FT

I dont mind been called a Liverpudlian, it's got nothing to do with football. Where as Evertonian can only be used in football context. In fact I'm quite proud that I can't think of another team in England whose fans have a name. Unless someone else can?

Pretty sure we've always been the first club in this city.

Whist there were some interesting insights in there about what goes on at finch farm, I found parts of this article to be extremly disrespectful. I hate the way we are potrayed in the general media. Just because we have a financial disadvantage to the teams that we compete against, it doesn't mean that we are constantly overachieving. The people who write these type of artciles try and make out like we are performing miracles year after year, because they only take into account the money side of things. Whilst money is, of course, a huge factor in modern football, I can never understand why people fail to take into account other factors which contribute to our achievments, such as our management, our excellent fanbase, the character of our players, the spirit and heritage of the club, the team spirit, and of course (as the article mentions) our approach to tactical analysis. These are the sort of things which make sport what it is. In these factors we have an advantage over other teams which somewhat cancels out our financial disadvatages. So we are not really overachieving at all. Financially we are, but not on any other level.

This "plucky little Everton" thing does my head in, the article attempts to compliment us, but it's just partronising.

Mods; How close has this joker got to be to my atavar before I can sue him

Interestingly, it's meant to show Moyes strengths but I actually think it points to his weakness. He is treating football like a science, studying yards throw ins the other side, he's not focussing on what makes good football, and never has.
