Player Valuation: £500k
I'm just curious as I haven't seen it happen before. If a player was substituted and the boss wants him back in - is that allowed?

:o

Of course, Bundy... sorry... talking football.

So if a player needs a "rest" or a "break" for 20 mins or so, he can't. Is this officially in the rule book? Or just tradition? As in, no one's done it so therefore no one has.

It's defo in the rule book. Once subbed off, there's no coming back

Choose your subs wisley. Making 3 subs' and then getting your keeper injured is not something likely, but has happened =)

Rule book , once replaced , you are REPLACED .

E.g. Say we had someone sent off in a Final which goes to penalties . Even in a 10/10 draw on pens, you couldnt bring back the dismissed man .

Once gone , thats it .

To add to this, you can't bring back on a substitute under any circumstances.

This includes if a match is to be forfeited. A game is forfeited if a team has seven or less players on the pitch representing one team, due to red cards or injuries. You can't "bring back the sub" to boost the numbers back up.

So literally no circumstance whatsoever where a sub can come back. However, a player can go off injured, receive treatment (stitches for example), and come back into the game 10 minutes later, as long as no player has replaced him on the pitch :)

Used to be the rule in Rugby League that once you were off you're off for good. Now you are allowed to come back on.
