Player Valuation: £10m
Not a witch hunt, not trying to criticise him but just seeing what others views of him are. For me, he has been something of a super sub and really caused the opposition problems when coming on for the final 20 minutes or so. However, when he has had chances to start, he's not quite grabbed the opportunity to force a reagular start in the first XI.

Am i beng to harsh? Id like to think we have a real prospect there but i got to admit that when he has started, he's not had the impact i thought he might

He hasn't got the quality we should be aiming for, nothing more than a squad player in my opinion.

But at the moment hes a good player to bring off the bench for a bit of strength and directness upfront.

100% Spot on in my opinion. I doubt he'll ever live up to his tag of the next drogba.

Who the hell said that?

Alan Irvine

Everton assistant, Alan Irvine, recently revealed that they were trying to turn Victor Anichebe "...into someone who is an all round striker like Drogba...” While he is nowhere near the level of the Chelsea hit man yet, he has made a positive start.

He is very quick and his physical presence has a caused a number of premiership defenders problems. His recent brace against Newcastle showed that he has an eye for goal. Everton looked a lot more threatening against Reading on Sunday after he came on. His substitution seemed to give the side a lift.

Things are moving fast for the Lagos born striker, as he already seems to be ahead of James Beattie in the pecking order at Goodison. He recently committed his international future to Nigeria, despite being called up for the England U19 squad.

I disagree. I thought he was good for the first 60-65 minutes and then his stamina goes, he gets frustrated and is useless. His touch and hold up play have improved dramatically and he was actually going past defenders on a few occasions and linking up well. Your not the finished article at 19 and Victor's got alot of time to improve. He's certainly a good 5th striker to have. When everyone's fit he is behind Yakubu, Cahill, Johnson and Vaughan.

His fitness needs to be improved but I don't blame him for blowing out. He comes in every odd game and people expect him to play to his best and match fully fit athletes who play week in week out. Its not always that easy and if you don't have match practice your going to struggle.

I still think a loan would be good for him in the Championship. You look at Ismael Miller who's at West Brom now and you see the confidence it give to your play. If Anichebe got a run of games, got math practice he'd perform to a completely different level.

He's never going to be a Yakubu but I'm sure he'll be around Johnson's ability and maybe even better. Johnson isn't skillful and lacks technical ability but he guarantees you 10-12 goals a season and is good enough for our squad. Give the lad time and he'll be good.

I agree that he's been more effective coming off the bench. That said, I think he can still develop his overall game to become even more effective, whether off the bench or in a starting role.

Anichebe just doesnt have the ability on the ball, and lacks any footballing brain.

I agree with most things here about Vic.He cant shoot, hardly wins the ball in the air and doesnt seem to know what to do other than harass other defenders when he can be bothered to run and not keep tuggin at his pants all the time!
He just hasnt got the quality to have a premiership career with Everton and it shows We really havent got the quality in depth we think we have.

Well Anichebe...what can i say...He is a good player, he just needs some more games, if he wasnt good Moyes would have him in the Everton squad. However he does need to improve some things.

- Confidence
- Ambition
- Stamina
- Right foot Shooting
- Jumping to get the ball rather than standing there
- Running at defenders instead fo waiting for the pass

in training he has got great skills, i remember seeing him and vaughan taking on each other ath the blackburn match, and he easily passed him with some great skill, so why doesnt he try that in the match?! He looks to be scared when he has got the ball.

Also what i find strange is he is right footed right? well all the shots i have seen him take outside of the box have been on his left foot, and to be fair they are good, but why doesnt he shoot with his right?

I used to like Anichebe more than Vaughan, but Vaughan just has that bit more confidence, the confidence to try a volley at chelsea away, try that over head kick on the edge of the box, i cant wait till he's back.

I agree as a generality, but didn't he set up Yak with a flick on header?

Does anyone remember that cross field ball he placed during the peterborough game a year or two ago-inch perfect.

I think the lad seems clumsy, and in all honesty he was lucky with a lot of his euro goals.

He's only scored one league goal all season, on the first day of the season.

He needs to improve, and maybe he will. If he doesnt then we're sound if Vaughans knee doesnt fall off.

His euro goals were lucky how? lets see...one he ran the whole half, out strengthing one player, doing a small dummy and placing the ball in the one place the keeper could get it, another goal he scored from teh smallest angle, and another he cut back onto his better foot - now lucky you say?

He wont last all match, so we should just keep doing whats best, bring him off the bench in the last 10 minutes.
