He was very effective last season in the UEFA CUP when coming off the bench. I have not seen the lad thus far, being as effective when starting on the rare occasions he does so.

Weak opposition, hence repeated comments about him making it in the Championship.
Wind back the clock 30 years and he'd have been competing on a level with Big Bob. But back then the 1st division was only drawing on players from the English Scottish and to a lesser extent, Irish leagues.
The number of professional players available now must be at least ten times that.
