I can probably find you Derek Temple if you need him..my best mate's dad was (or is) his best mate and they played football together right up to his Everton days. Also I can tell you that Alex Parker was a family friend (before my time mind!) and he made a coffin for my grandparent's dog (he was a carpenter by trade).

that is one hell of a couple of weeks, would love to talk to all of them, even Trebilcock ( I wasnt even alive at the time; but 66 FA cup final should be required watching for any everton fan). gotta love - Eddie Cavanagh :)

Interesting to see Sheff W start the 2nd half with a back 4 AND a sweeper, radical.

I did Derek Temple a good while ago and was a very interesting gentleman. Alex Parker died a good few years ago. He had a pub in Runcorn

Poor Bobby Laverick...one of the many left wingers recruited by Everton to fill the void left by Tommy Eglington(!).....Eddie O'Hara, Jimmy Fell, Ray Veall.....poor Ray ...Roy Vernon moaned and shouted at him all game then they'd be the best of mates in the Royal Tiger in the evening....sometimes a Friday evening, when Harry Catterick used to send staff round the Liverpol nightspots hauling the players out and sending them home....Vernon with his orange juice on the bar, and a real drink on a little shelf underneath.

Didn't Shirley have the Post Office at the Old Roan for a while? Talking of the Old Roan,I met Alex Young and Jim Gabriel in the Gents at St Philomenas(?) Club once, and remember Gabriel saying to me 'Whats it like having a piss with a Scottish International?' .

Quite sure John Hills went to All Saints in Kirkby, my mind is failing me. im convinced his mum was the receptionist there, ask him?

...I thought he was the boy we got from Blackpool after playing them in the FA Youth Cup. Saying that, I think his family were Evertonians.

...was fortunate to be asked to play in a Charity Game many years ago by Dave Hickson. Derek Temple played, such a lovely striker of a football. Was in the Gwladys St behind Andy Rankin's fantastic save, remember it vividly. Think he might have moved on to Watford after leaving us, but he was a real shot stopper.

...Don Megson was centre back I think, Gary Megson's dad. Long time ago, Young slipped to let Temple in for the winner.

Very patient lad was Derek Temple, he lived next to Dovecot junior school and kids being kids we were constantly knocking on his door asking for autographs, I never once heard of him refusing.

Funny how footy has changed since the 60's, imagine a premiership player these days living in a corporation house in Dovecot.

And having a ciggie in the tunnel before coming on the pitch ala Roy Vernon.
