It seems something of a weinstein moment, once the flood has started, slowly the confidence to report and join the ranks of the rest of the victims in reporting his behaviours is there. The timescale of his alleged offending is telling, it at least seems to me that when he was a name and a personality upon which to project crap tv shows he was protected from on high, now his looks have faded and his schtick cuts no ice, the people making money via him simply don't care. Here's the rub, like a certain other high profile tv star, if there was an open secret, and if a blind eye was turned, then the producers of the shows he starred are in some way responsible to enabling and allowing him access to prey upon young women. A corporate responsibility if you will.Obviously we should consider him innocent until a court finds him guilty, but he's one sleazy ratbag.
To draw a parallel with cases not similar in nature but where corporate misalignment is tangible, the management that took their bonuses and ruined post master lives and their families have corporate responsibility. If you've been on the gravy train where harm has been done, then the law should be looking for you. When such matters are swept under the carpet and a sacrificial lamb carries the can (dr david kelly) then the stink further erodes any belief in the system and we the people disengage.
See also the grooming gangs enquiries that've upset and forced the withdrawal of victims, see the mess made with the Hillsborough (eventual) laws, stakeknife, the water companies, the already mentioned post office criminality, and lets throw a prosecuted rape case rate of under 2% in.
Back to brand, I wonder what that dossier in Katy Perry's safe actually says.
