To be fair he does seem to have a burst of pace when he's going forward with the ball mate, but when he's challenging with a player for some reason he looks like he's running in treacle.
Was going to say this. He powers past defenders when he has the ball then starts jogging when loses possession.

He shows glimpses of the talent he possesses in games but too often he drifts out of the game. Had a chance to win it last night and looked asleep at the back post. I think he’s ultimately always going to be a very frustrating player for us.

We signed Slowmes
Leicester signed Tielemans

Thats why one team is 3rd and the other 7th
Gomesh was OK in a very ineffective midfield last night set up our goal - the tactics in the 2nd half bewildered me 9 men behind the ball two left backs & after all that heroic defending our keeper proved yet again not up to it big time Charlie he cost us 2 points in the end - then we pushed up field far to late imo - dire football knife to a gunfight stuff - our midfield just collapsed backwards we were so deep.... why?

Leicester did nothing special we just fell backwards.... - DCL on his own we could not even find him with an out ball..... two chances at the end if we had won it would have been papering over the cracks in the team.....

Found this on André Gomes from the Leicester City game:
Gomes may have been unable to match Doucoures’ offensive output against Leicester with the 27-year-old failing to create a single direct goal-scoring opportunity for himself or a teammate, yet he helped to stamp the Toffees’ style on the game with more successful dribbles (5) than any player for either side as he progressed the ball up the field.

His drive to bring play forward, rather than palm off possession, additionally saw Gomes cover the second furthest distance with the ball at their feet by an Everton player at 174-yards, and with the most progressive carries (4) beyond the defensive 40% zone of the field to push Leicester back into their own territory.

God I hate the modern day obsession with stats, always loved that football was free of them compared to American sports but nowadays it's just as bad.

'progressive carries beyond the defensive zone' ffs lol

I think you have to credit Leicester for playing well and putting us on the back foot. Carlo said himself he didn’t want them defending that deep. Looked like panic set in and we were hoofing it. The 4 CBS thing has its plus points but Godrefy and Holgate aren’t really attacking outlets so cut our options down a fair bit in possession.
