I've been one of his critics. His inconsistency is mind boggling. I just get annoyed when some fans talk like he's zidane when he stinks the gaff out most games. I can see he can play football, I just wish he displayed it more often and more effectively. The thing now is that there does seem to be a very good balance in theory and in what we saw on Saturday between him, Doucoure and Allan. It's all about getting the balance right and each of them offers something different. They all seem to be comfortable on the ball and with more options in front of and alongside Gomes, he will obviously play better. If he can just add 4/5 goals a season to his game playing further up the pitch then we will be so much better off. Buying Doucoure and James could give us about 15 more goals. Add in an improved Gomes and 20 goals a season extra is huge.

Definitely a big season for Andre. Hopefully better players will give him the change to perform well and improve his confidence. If he plays on that left side think he has big competition in Gordon. Great to see competition I the team

Remember last year’s derby. He bossed it! Head & shoulders the best player on the pitch. Then Pickford..........well we know what happened.

That was a bad injury he had. He was written off for the season. He made it back ahead of schedule. Had he played for a top 6 side, he would have been eased in, but this is Everton. If you can walk, you’re playing. So he played semi fit, with a non-existent midfield & got slated by idiots.

If Carlo can get the best of him, we’ve got a real player.

The game v West Ham as well, one of the best solo performances in a blue shirt since fellaini at city

In the long run he probably won't be good enough but he'll do for now.
I don’t believe that is a certainty. It all depends on what he improves on. If he doesn’t become more of a goal threat or playmaker then I can see him phased out.

He is good enough on the ball and with both feet to be a factor though. Just a matter of finding consistency which is the biggest knock against him.

That wasn't last season mate, that was the season before. We got hammered 5-2 last season at their gaff and drew 0-0 after lockdown.

The game you mention he was superb, that's the level he should be hitting more consistently. When he came back after his injury and came on as a sub against Arsenal away, he was superb and completely changed the tempo of our performance.

Been here a couple of seasons now though and I'm not sure he can produce it on a consistent basis. Still, better players around him now will obviously make things better for him.
