I’ll be seriously concerned about our strategy if we can’t outbid West Ham.

Its not about 'out bidding' anybody, its about getting value for money. £18M is a fair opener, but I wouldnt go a penny over £25M.
If Gomes want the bright lights of London we would have to really load on the wages and maybe the fee too...Barca don't really care where he goes just as long as he does...for a decent fee obvs.
Loading on the wages is going back to the madness of Sandro-nomics...though Koeman-omics might be a better term
