Imagine it now, Rooneys 32. He's broke Dennis Laws record of 46 goals a season back when he was 28. Englands leading top goalscorer with 63 goals in 138 appearances. But he's just left United for free after his contract ran out.

Would you take him back? If the squad is of the same ability as it is now.

Its odd for me because he's a local lad but he also did this..

Wouldn't it be his dream to captain Everton though?

I don't know so I want some theory's from you lot.

Rooney looks 42 now. He'd look and probably play like a pensioner by the time he's 32. I really cant see him emulating Scholes or Giggs.

I'd have him back in a shot.
The lad took a lot of stick, and the badge kissing was the obvious option to shut our fans up and get a little payback. Players grow up, and mature. So do fans.

I'd welcome him back in an instant, but I would never support any decision to make him captain. He simply doesn't deserve it.

I don't hate Wayne, I was extremely happy to see him score a couple last night, but he is not "one of us" any more. To assume he could walk back into this club once he's over the hill and take the captain's armband just like that is something which I feel really tarnishes the list of great captains we've had over the years.

I'm not going to fault him for squad loyalty; wouldn't you want Everton players doing the same?

The fact he's an Everton guy at heart is all that matters. Man U is like the Deathstar. He needs to come home eventually. (y)

If the question is, would we want 1 of the best players in the world, to come and play for Everton, the answer is yes, whether I would ever welcome the granny humper as Captain im not sure. But if hes still got the talent, yeah sure.
