Say NO to Ginger Managers
Something that has been discussed recently is that for the club to grow, there needs to be more exposure worldwide. One of the ways of doing this would to make a documentary on different parts of the club, which would then be sent out to the likes of NBC and ESPN for viewers, as mentioned and discussed partly in this thread. There was some interest from Roger Bennett (Men in Blazers) when it was mentioned to him, (thanks @Portland Toffee xxx) and it appears that there is potential for this to happen.
If so, what areas of the clubs history would you like to see placed in a documentary.
I think we could see documentaries made on the:
-Merseyside Derby (something on the foundations and history of this looking back at the split and then later successes of both clubs)
-School of Science with us leading English football in a series of world firsts
-The Holy Trinity
-Everton as the "Peoples Club" with Everton in the Community e.t.c.
-The Golden Vision
-Harry Catterick and his fight against illness to lead Everton to trophies and glory.
-Goodison, the Oldest Purpose Built Football Stadium in the World
-The foundation of the football league- looking at how it was founded as well as other founding members e.t.c.
-Dixie Dean
I'm sure there are others too

Also how we have served the longest in top flight football in England than any other club.

How many games and points over that time period should be discussed.

Maybe mentions of the Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool fixtures as they are some of the oldest in the world.

I think for the purposes of 'selling the brand' any documentary would need to be fairly compact. A miniseries would be ridiculously cool for us, but would put off the casual viewer - at first. So I think we should pick one period and focus on it.

My vote would be for the 85 team and the aftermath of Heysel. A club legend building us up to the greatest of height, only to have it snatched away by...well...you know.

Show the rise and fall of the blue half of Merseyside, spending the last bit on our re-emergence of the past decade culminating with our future looking so bright with transcendent young talents and a brilliant manager.

I think it hits all the right points - glory, tragedy, hope, the faded empire, the rising phoenix. And it's recent enough that it doesn't seem like we're banging on about ancient history.

Once something like that is out there, and hopefully succeeds, perhaps make a second one about the 60's. Catterick and the Holy Trinity.

Basically, start strong, then see if we could do something like yearly releases on the history of the club. But I think the 80's team is the starting point.

Will need more people getting onto the string between me and him, make him look at it more rather than just me bothering him haha.

There is so much of America yet to proper follow a team and they are looking for a club to resonate with them. This is the stuff the Yanks lap up and will give us a little pride to if done well.

I agree we could do with something like this. Indonesian kids probably know bits and pieces about Newton Heath, the Busby babes etc.

We have just as much to share.

Agree with this.

I don't do social media myself, though I may sign up for this sort of thing. This does seem like something we could kickstart or crowdfund though. Bennett says he's up for it, so let's show that there is demand.

i imagine he's busy as hades with the World Cup and his current doc with the USMNT, but perhaps we could ease him in with the question, "What needs to be done to make this happen?"

find out if there is anything we can do to grease the wheels.
