Goodison Park is another stadium to have a lot of character. Sitting in Stanley Park, a short walk away from Anfield, Goodison Park is a good old-fashioned ground.

Like Craven Cottage, it also has a little unique feature in one corner. A church sits on the outside, although you can't see it from the interior any longer.

Some restricted viewing around the ground spoils the stadium somewhat, but that isn't its biggest problem.

Goodison has started to look its age and is in need of a good refurbishment. With the club looking to move away, the stadium has been left as it is, meaning it has lost touch with many other stadiums.

Still an impressive sight, especially when you approach, if you want to get that old-fashioned feeling from a football ground, then Goodison is your place. Other than that, it isn't that great.

As for proximity to the pit........not far enough.

The Church....... visible as plain as day from where I sit.

Soulless Meccano sets like the JJB and the Reebok feature higher up the list.

Try watching a game at all the grounds first like.

Bawbag.

The DW's about twice as big as required - the first thing anyone should be looking at is atmosphere and there's none to speak of there.

It depends what you want from a football match/ground. If you're a match going fan you either want atmosphere, history or comfort. In some respects Goodison is a great ground but it fails in other respects (facilities, some views). The Emirates is impressive in many ways. Putting Anfield up at 6th place is a sop to the reputation of that club - frankly it's not much different from our ground (after all it's in a very similar (if not worse) location - it's even older than Goodison & almost as much in need of being razed to the ground. One of the major advantages The Emirates & The CoMS will enjoy are the facilities - plus you won't need an oxygen mask & a tent (for Base Camp) before you get to the top (like Old Trafford). If history & the importance of the clubs carry any weight (it seems to from this report) then that's why Man U are up in 4th place. The PL is made up of 7 relatively new stadia & 13 older ones

If I had to rate them then the 7 new would, for me be rated
VG Arsenal / Man City
Average Stoke / Swansea / Sunderland
Poor Bolton - Wigan

Of the 13 older stadia
Good - or refurbished to a decent standard - Man U
Adequate - Chelsea, Spurs, Wolves, Newcastle
Barely Adequate - Everton, Liverpool, Villa
The Rest - West Brom, Norwich, Fulham, Blackburn

Villa is a good stadium, much better that Klanfield and Goodison and 'the rest'.

I'd say Old Trafford is the best PL stadium in the UK. Perfect combination of history and modern stadia architecture, seating not far away from the crowd.

I find it ironic that the report is sourced from the US and funnily enough Arsenal's owner (Stan Kroenke) is amongst the richest sports franchise owners in America. Stan has interests in the Denver Nuggets (NBA) Colorado Avalanche (NHL) and owns the St Louis Rams (NFL).

I guess its based solely on facilities. Annoying though that they cite the Tin Mine for it's atmosphere (obviously never bothered to do their survey during one of their many boring draws with lower side) when many a neutral party have name dropped Goodison under the lights as the best atmosphere.

Surprised to see the Stadium of Light as #2, I guess they were chuffed with how many seats they got to themselves.

Emirates #1 is definitely the right choice, it's frequently said "Wembley was supposed to be the best stadium in the world, it's not even the best stadium in North London."

LOL at The Emirates being #1

What a soulless pit that place is, a commercial success does not translate to a fan experience you suit wearing whoppers.

The Reebok is just a horrible concrete block.

For them to say the below about it shows how uninformed they are, and are clearly basing it on pictures and TV highlights.

Massive tits.

Had it not been for its small size, this would easily be regarded as one of the worlds top stadiums.
