Possibly jumping the gun, but, lets say we sort our midfield issue this summer and the injured make it back, coupled with a run of luck in terms of injuries like we saw when we trounced them lot for fourth place could we see ourselves as contenders? It appears season tickets are flying out at a rate of knots, showing great expectation.

I like positivity, and a good outlook on the possibilities and expectations for the new season. (Anyone trawling the depths and being morose, save it from here and go to YouTube - duffy@rain on your parade - new year hootenanny have a sing along and get it done there.)

Everton to push even harder next term and surprise those so easy to write us off.

I think whatever happens in the transfer window we can go into the new season with a lot more confidence than last.

Saying that, when we have low expectations we seem to do well! Hope we start as positively as most of us feel we can this season. (y)

We made 4th without a squad nearly as good as the one we have now, even with no signings, we have every chance of making 4th place.

I'm digging the positive vibes lads!

Thems is boss! If Lescott stays, I think it will show a lot of solidarity in the squad and will be a big 2 fingers up to the world!

With the World Cup fast approaching as well, I think we can expect a few players to up their games, namely our centre backs and Mikel.

Looking forward to it already, just wish silly season would hurry up and bugger off!

Not many peices of the jigsaw left, Moyesy has chipped away at the squad for years now, the squad really steped up for me last season in consistency, development and quality. I am excited by a (hopfully) fit squad, im confident obvious gaps will be attended to this close season, Jo is a great start.

Like i say i think we will be competitive for fourth.

I'll be much more confident once we've signed a right-side midfielder, but if we can keep everybody fit we've now got a good team & a decent, if small, squad.

If we make the right signings, then I can see us getting into the top 4. Villa were top briefly, and if they hadn't lost Laursen then I think they would have stayed in the top 4.

I honestly believe we're a couple of signings and a wee bit of luck from breaking top four again. Villa look weakened, City will be stronger but we have the settled core of quality there with great versitility a feature in the small squad.

You could also argue having 1 and a half players for each position (rather than the 2 of the sky4) also allows everyone to get a good amount of football, including the youngsters, which makes the squad more together as a unit.

Add Defour and a defender and I'd be happy for that to be close of business for us.(y)

Know what you mean about only being a few signings shy!

Its a good time for us as Evertonians now mate. A couple of decent signings in this window and were set.

The inclusion of the youngters in the squad has only been a good thing. Youthful exuberance from the likes of Rodwell and Gosling has been a refreshing thing. Hopefully it will spur the rest of the youngsters on a bit, an force them to raise their game.

Defour would be a great signing I think. As would Pennant and Naughton/Walker. Little bit of pace could give us a massive boost.

It's hard to be overly confident when neither Arteta nor Jagielka are anywhere close to returning to match fitness and it's still an open question as to whether Lescott will be playing CB in royal blue...

Excited for the new season - absolutely. Everton is heading in the right direction. Can't be ebullient until Arteta is running fine and Lescott back at center anchor.

All team's need luck as well and if we get our share with a good start we can do top four.Hope Lescott stay's but is if we get the cash then i hope they let Moyes have the lot.
