I read today that if the James transfer goes ahead as expected, Real Madrid will have spent more on just 3 players - Ronaldo, Bale and Rodriguez (265M Euros) than Ajax have spent in their entire existence (232M)

I do think it's important to remember that as little as we spend compared to other english clubs we blow teams like ajax out of the water with out spending power.

I suspect we fair favourably against some unexpected names too. I'm not sure teams like Valencia, Deportivo, maybe even Dortmund or Leverkusen spend huge sums, and I'd be quite confident we spend more than Porto, Benfica, Lyon et al.

I think Real/Barca get a smidge under 50% of the La Liga tv income between them?
