I don't know if anyone managed to see the video montage before today's game that incorporated a lot of the old footage from our glorious by-gone era and our more modern day heroes , but today's also included the recent F.A Cup round win over Chelsea.
Personally, I thought it was a work of pure genius. It wasn't one of those 'remember when we were great' pieces that make you sad for the old days and what was..It made you feel so proud to be a Blue NOW ! To see the likes of Dixie in the old black and white footage with the distinctive 'criss-cross' pattern that still remain on the Bullens Road, through footage of our triumphant wins in 1985 and 1995 to Arteta and Cahill scoring against the R.S in games bang up to date, topped off with Baines curling that beauty past Czech, that are all still so fresh to young and old.
I gotta say, I was transfixed - and to look down on Goodison Park's lush pitch and think ..Alan Ball scored in that goal on a lovely sunny day , just like today, HERE!! it must of been awesome to of seen it happen! It's a feeling you could never get at some where like the Emirates or Eastlands these days. Even just walking up the stairs to the your seat in the Upper Bullens, you can still see the part of the old stand, just above the refreshments and you realise you're standing where so many before you , generations before you did.
I love Everton , I love Goodison Park.. the smells, the sound the atmosphere. But in these cold progressive times of modern day 'football' - I never ever want to leave , I just don't want to ! But, like a great man once said " I may be a dreamer, but I'm not the only one" - It will indeed be a sad day when we have to..but My God, what a legacy and what timeless memories the Old Lady will have given us for ever to cherish
