I've recently noticed a disappointing trend of attempts to shoot down and discredit newly created discussions.

Take this thread for instance. A new member - Evertonian - attempting to start a discussion a perfectly credible discussion with fellow Evertonians.

The response is ridiculously negative, unconstructive and unwelcome. Imagine that being the first thread you ever read on GrandOldTeam - what type of impression would that leave? - Certainly not one GrandOldTeam is all about;

The humble beginnings!
GrandOldTeam began its journey on the 5th February 2007 with the intention of providing a 'sound' forum, a user-friendly place which would allow Evertonians from across the world to log on to and discuss the Toffees - and anything else for that matter!

While the aim was never to become the biggest Everton community on the net, we always took great pride in the friendly atmosphere unique to GrandOldTeam and our priority has always remained the same - to provide the very best place on the web for fans worldwide to congregate to discuss Everton Football Club. GrandOldTeam prides itself on offering Everton fans a place for intelligent and respectful debate about the issues that matter to them.

If you think a topic is tedious - exit it, without a smart arse response.

If your particularly offended by the tediousness of the topic, rather than post solely to discredit it, report it to a moderator.

Our "silly season" summer leniency stops now. Those who aren't constructive to the forums ethos will quickly find we have little time for members who cannot follow our fairly laid back rules to ensure this place always has its unique friendly atmosphere to keep it the best Everton forum to share opinions.

I've also noticed an annoying tendency to discredit new threads with completely irrelevant, off topic, in-joke nonsense. Stop it.
