Alcohol … how’s your relationship with it ?

Exactly three weeks to the day since I bought any alcohol.

Added up all the booze payments on last month's statement and thought Mrbluenose, this is getting a bit much.

Watched a few vids on Youtube from people who have quit talking about how much better they feel. It got me curious to find out for myself.

I sleep better, no waking up at 3 feeling dehydrated. The missus says I have stopped snoring. Definitely feel better in the mornings. Evenings sadly are less fun.

I say bought because I have been falling back on a few bottles of wine I had in stock. They have now run out, so the real test begins.

I'm keeping a tally of what I would have spent with a view to spending said money on something more worthwhile. Hopefully that is enough to keep at it.

Curious to know how you’ve experienced changes so far if you’ve still been drinking just not purchased any? Or is the volume/frequency still a lot different.

The naked truth is a good book to read about it

The before was 2L of spirits a week with a diet mixer. Vodka/diet lemonade, Brandy/Pepsi Max, Gin/diet tonic.

I used to drink a lot of beer, swapped to the above about 18 months ago. It's still an unhealthy amount but I lost 9 or 10 kg in a couple of months. Same exercise and fairly healthy food, just a lot less calories from the booze.

So, drinking a couple of bottles of wine a week, with four or five nights off, was a reduction.

I will no doubt drink again in the not too distant future, but not at the frequency I was. It's easy for once or twice a week to creep up. I rarely ever get smashed, but it was the drinking every night became a habit.

Weekends only from now on.

Ah that makes more sense, was just curious with the wording! It's better to reduce than go cold turkey unless you're used to doing that. Keep it up.

My gf want some white wine, so she put one in the fridge at lunch. Opened it before I got home aaaaannnnd it was a £40 bottle I've had for a few years for the right occasion. I only paid £17 for it, but still lol
