AJ SIGNS NEW 5 YEAR CONTRACT

Hang on a minute, we only signed him last year on a five year deal, whats this all about?

Playing devils advocate here but it could be behind the scenes AJ wasn't happy with his wages (prompting West Ham rumours)

Pay rise to equal Cahill and Arteta deal maybe?

Well its obvious that it is a parity contract, but also it means that we have him for 5 years along with the other boys.

I see nothing wrong with what AJ wanted or what the club wanted. Now lets hope he can repay a higher salary with some goals.

Club is definitely moving forward. Everyone on long term deals.

Now lets get Fernandes and Nolan.

Hmm, I must say that I'm a little confused by this. Can anyone say that we've really missed AJ all that much since he's been out of the team? Yak and McFadden have both scored 4 times, Anichebe 3, whilst both Cahill and Vaughan are amongst the goals on their return.

I think we're owed some big performances from Mr Johnson.

You could be onto something there Danny, what if this new contract is too ensure that we get the absolute maximum transfer fee from West Ham as you said he only signed a 5 year contract with us last season...it does bring some interesting points up, I would kill to be a fly on the wall at Everton right now just so I can put my mind at ease with all of this AJ's home-sick bullshit.

I've got a strong feeling hes gonna leave....but it doesnt really matter as we've been doing really fine without him. We'll need to rather cash in on him in January and get a ....well, consistent and much more committed player.

Can,t see him leaving now and how can you say he is not a committed player.

Yeah, I guess ur right .Hes not gonna leave.....but wht i mean to say is he doesnt really show the level of commitment shown by arteta or cahill. The point is we need 20 goals per season frm him not 12 or 13....which is why he was a club record transfer fee.

Can anyone confirm if his salary has indeed gone up? Anyone know what he was on before and now?

He certainly hasnt done anything to earn a new contract, I like AJ, but he hasnt done anything outstanding for us to really worry about tying him down with 4 years left on his contract.

I don,t see how you can say he isn,t as committed as cahill and arteta when he plays he gives his all and he has been playing with an injury.
He is a worker and gives his all for the team the goals will come

Well I would say possibly its more political if its not a salary increase. clearly someone has been trying to unsettle AJ with the west ham rumours, so possibly its to finally settle them.
