Aggressive Birds

Had some Turkey vultures roosting near our house a few years ago. They are protected in the USA. They proceeded to eat all the rubber collars off the toilet waste vent pipes across the house. Then they started on the rubber on the car... ate all the surround off the windscreen and moved to the doors - thankfully it was a work rental.

Accidentally caught a seagull while crab fishing with the kids in Cornwall may years ago. Dangled the line over the sea wall, the gull swooped in for the bacon on the end of the hook and got its wing stuck. It went mental. It was screeching and trying to fly away. I drew a small crowd, the kids were crying. Utter nightmare. Fortunately it managed to free itself and flew away, with the bacon, apparently unscathed.

The humble Australian magpie is incredibly aggressive during Spring. I got swooped by one last year, even though I was wearing a baseball cap it managed to draw blood.

It can be entertaining watching Lycra clad cyclists get knocked off their bikes like.

"Doves and pigeons can also be trained to carry messages, though the raven is a stronger flyer, larger, bolder, far more clever, better able to defend itself against hawks ..."
