African nations.

Time they moved it to every 4yrs. inline with all the big Competitions...same time as the Euro's would be good.

Depends whereabouts in Africa it's held. Playing in high summer is pretty much impossible in many areas and if the tournament clashes with the Euro's it will inevitably get less exposure which could be detrimental to sponsorship.

I'd agree that it shouldn't be every 2 years though.

We are set to lose Gueye and Bolasie for an extended period when the African cup of nations starts. With this in mind I'm hoping due to the debacle of the last transfer window we do our new year shopping early as the tournament starts on the 14th so they will probably be called up a week or 2 beforehand.
Err don't forget Kone and Niasse, both big losses. Oh and Valencia too if you're racist like @toffee matt

I think people are kidding themselves in stating that we are OK in CM if we were to lose Gueye for a significant period of time. At best it means a return of the Barry and McCarthy partnership, which is horrendous and most definitely of bottom half standard. Barry's contract runs out in June, and we need to sign a top CM in January.

Unless we find another 'unknown' gem like Gueye, I think we need to realise that 80k a week won't attract the type of CM we need. That type of player will be looking for 100 - 120k a week minimum in today's market.

Do you think Gueye, Williams, Bolasie, Stekelenburg and Valencia amount to a debacle ?

Wonder if is signing gueye is why Gibson was given a new contract? Although not sure if gamble on him staying fit for 6-8 weeks

Yes, I'm going all out and saying it was a debacle especially the last day.

Stekelenburg was bought as back up, Koeman even said he wanted three keepers. Williams was a replacement for Stones and he wanted Kone and the right back fella from Southampton, we failed.

Midfield we failed in getting Witsel, Mata and Carvalho. Gueye has been great though and Bolasie will come good in my humble view.

Up front was a shambles, Perez the Algerian lid we failed to secure and last minute got Valencia on loan.

Yeah, a debacle in my view.

as for Africa, will put my rooting interest in Uganda first, even if they don't have a shot in hell. who knows, maybe some of those Everton Uganda kids will eventually make it up to the big club.
