To all our American friends, or anybody with good kowledge of the U.S.
I am planning a trip around the U.S, travelling from Boston down to Miami and then flying over to the west coast and doing San Fran to L.A via Vegas. Anybody got any suggestions as to where to go and what to do out there. Would be nice to hear from you !!

Once you get to florida, Be sure to stop in Tampa, Take in the Nightlife of Ybor City..

Clearwater, Florida is close and has beautfiul Beaches, as does Miami.. Be sure to cruise Miami Strip..

I grew up in those exact areas Chico :)

Clearwater. Go to Lenny's on US 19 and get some scrapple for breakfast - and the bread basket. It's like you're in Philly. Eat the local cubano chow in Ybor in Tampa - it's not like you're in Miami (or anywhere else, really) it's something special and it's like this just in Tampa. Gulf beaches are (were) white and beautiful - better than Atlantic beaches, IMHO. Hope the oil doesn't roll in.

Should we send him to the Mons, Nord? He'll need a serious cash injection after that. It may change his whole life.:o

If he has money to spend and his Ol' lady approves, woulde'nt be a bad idea.

I imagine you'll make the drive from San Fran to LA on the 101 which goes through the central coast and is really a nice drive...I lived there for a couple years in San Luis Obispo (very nice town) and so i know of a few cool places around there....

One of my favorites is Guadalupe Dunes Co park...its close to the 101 and will be mostly empty of people...go hike around the dunes and if you find chunks of styrofoam blowing around, they might be from "The Ten Commandments" staring Chuck Heston, an Everton fan. Parts were filmed there. If you give more info on what you like to do, i can probably give more info! (Pubs, surfing, Hikes, Bikes, Dives/Snorkeling...that sort of thing-I'm kind of outdoorsy)

I can probably think of 100 interesting places to go there, but I'm not sure what your status is in regards to age, etc. Also can send google earth links to hidden gems like good surf spots, fishing spots and yes, a nude beach or 2 if things havent changed in the 7 years since i lived there!

Thanks for all the info there guys, really appreciated.
To give you a bit more information im 21 and travelling in a group of 5 lads. Like getting pissed up and pulling girls in the night (not sure what 'the mons' is exactly but it doesnt sound like your going to have to sell it to me!) so good hotsports aside from the obvious miami ny la ect would be appreciated. Planning to do some camping in the keys and have heard key west is the best for this. Would really like to do some cliff diving out there if anybody knows some good safe spots to do so and snorkelling definately appeals to me!!
Also want to catch a few u.s sports out there so who has the best atmosphere.
Can always count on fellow blues to help you out !! :)

I always thought it would be interesting to go to that Bohemian Grove and watch world leaders worship an owl so I confirm for myself that the world is ruled by weirdos.

When is this taking place as I assume it is during the summer?

SF to LA via Vegas? That's not exactly on the way.

From Boston to Miami, you should be able to see a ton though. Definitily try to check out the coasts of NC and SC if you can (NC beaches for peaceful toe in the water types, Myrtle Beach SC for redneck watching or Charleston SC for a history lesson).

May as well take in the Grand Canyon mate, if your out Vegas way. I went San Fran - (well worth the majority of your time on the WC) - L.A. - Vegas - Grand Canyon -L.A..

Many companies in LA do a three day deal 2 nights in Vegas (more then enough) a day in the Grand Canyon, Hotel and Transport inclusive for about 200 bucks. I used a company on 2nd st and Broadway in Santa Monica - great trip and well worth 200 bucks - the guy who was running the trip was an ex - pat Scot and dead on like!
