Hi, My Fiancée and I are coming over to Europe and the UK from Australia in February 2015 for our honeymoon and are planning to be at the Leicester City game at Goodison. I still can't believe we are going to be watching the blues play at Goodison.
My questions are what seats should I buy for our first time, with unobstructed views and a great atmosphere (it will be a long time until this happens again for us so want to experience everything)?
I made my first trip to Goodison two seasons ago, and my advice is the following:
1. The seats you can choose will be far more limited than you may expect. The number of STHs and other advance-purchase rights-holders really limits what you're able to get, so make sure you're online the instant the tickets for your chosen match become available. If you wait even a day, all of the decent tix will be gone.
2. The "obstructed view" guide on the seating charts you look at on EFC's website aren't a good representation of how obstructed the views really are. If you want a good view, stay as far as humanly possible from them; 1 row back but 5 seats further to the side is a trade-off worth making.
3. Despite (2.) don't forget that there is also a roof-top view obstruction that none of the charts make clear. If you get seats
too far back, you'll have a hard time seeing the near-side of the pitch, but you'll also have a hard time seeing much else at all because of the roof.
4. There is also a trade-off between "view of the game" and "environment." If you like the rowdier, earthier crowd and want the experience more than the match, then defo go for Lower Gwladys. If you want to watch the match, see the players, and generally just take in an afternoon of footy, then go for something in the Upper Gwladys. Still earthy, but with a larger view and less distraction.
Also is there a chance of meeting the players or getting their signatures when they arrive or leave?
For me, it was just luck--after destroying ManCity, we visited the Everton store and then walked back toward Goodison Park and lucked into a chance meeting with Seamus Coleman, who was happy to chat, shake hands, etc...
