Exactly. The whole point of Everton Football Club is to be the best. The club was born and built upon being the best, and doing it with style and class. Our fathers and grandfathers never settled for second best, and here we are talking about settling for also-rans.

If this is how Evertonians are thinking they we may as well not exist at all. To those who are seriously adopting this attitude; all I can say is GTFO.

Our recent history hasn't lived up to expectations; fair enough. Our recent history doesn't define who we are.

NIL SATIS is not just a fancy marketing logo. It is this club. Evertonians need to be reminded, and we need to DEMAND it.

When did we last doing anything with class and style mate?

Don't assume that I am accepting that we are destined to be nothing but also rans for the rest of eternity, I am just accepting of the position we're now in and likely to be for the next few seasons.

It certainly doesn't mean I need to "GTFO" or am any less an Evertonian than you are. I'm fine with people remaining positive and clinging to former glories as a means of getting through what is a pretty embarrassing period in the club's history, but I'm taking the view that we are where we are and I'm not going to delude myself thinking we can currently sign the best players and be the best team in the league, we're light years away from that.

I don't think it helps when one person says GTFO and the other person claiming people who want to aim for the top are "clinging to former glories". We all want the same thing. Everton to be back on top. We haven't been there for years and yes we are a long way off but we need to aim for something. We need to move in a forward direction. For me that doesn't mean aiming to battle it out for 6th or 7th or mid table and then work out way up. Even if that is what is going to happen. I want us to look at the top 6 sides and aim at that. Even better let's look at how do we get to be the number 1 team in the country. There is a blue print that has gone before us. Man City. Is is easy-no. Will it take a few years-probably but isn't the point of supporting your team to be the best. Some Everton fans will never believe we can get there and if we stick to that we never will. But if we aim high we may surprise ourselves. It was only a few months ago when we were talking about pushing into the top 4.
I'm not attacking either of you guys so please don't misunderstand me. For me you are both right in what you say. I want both of you guys to be posting on here about how we just did Man U 8-0. Wouldn't that be cool. Maybe I'm just a dreamer but I'm not the only one...one day I hope you'll join me and the whole of the blue army can live as one! Keep your head up lads we will get back there one day. I don't think it will be with Big Sam at the helm though.

When a player walks out onto a pitch in front of tens of thousands of people. I don't think their first thought is how much they have earned this week. I think that generally players want to perform well, they want the applause and appreciation from the fans. They want cheers rather than jeers as they walk from the pitch.
I absolutely do agree with you that some players can lose their edge and bite as their careers move on but I don't believe that our players are any worse or better than players at other clubs.

I think a few good results and more importantly some good performances and we would be looking at players unrecognisable from the ones we see at present and that is where leadership on the field becomes important and that is something we are lacking.
Leadership more than anything was lost with the departure of Barry and the injury to Coleman and Rooney apart I am not sure that in all the money that was spent in the summer I don't see many leaders.

I think you are taking what I am saying too far.

What I meant is once a player has reached their peak in terms of how far up the football ladder they will go they will ease up. If the club also doesn't show ambition then this attitude can become infectious throughout the club.

It's not necessarily that they are bad people or even that they aren't trying it's just that they (and the club) have lost the hunger. Hunger is what allows average teams and players to perform better than what they are if they are managed correctly.

It's clear Rooney still has it for Everton. He didn't for Utd.

But what us fans think really doesn't matter. What we think makes not much difference. The club have seemingly accepted mediocrity. They talk a good game, but never ever back it up with actions. They are the ones who have forgotten the clubs motto and actually have the power to adhere to it.

I think a lot of fans have just had enough of this. Disillusioned if you will.

If the club want fans to not accept mediocrity and aim higher the club has to start acting the NSNO motto. Which is not playing Cuco Martina at left back for 4 months. (Just one example).

How long will we continue to sell out every game?

Already people are talking about not going to away games. A lot of people have bought season tickets on the back of false promises. Will it continue. I guess the Geordies put up with it but the Villa fans certainly didn't. It remains to be seen how our fans will react.
 
I do - I started supporting Everton in the 90s so I'm used to us being crap - but I don't get how me feeling like this makes Everton remain crap. Some fans genuinely seem to think that Everton's continued rubbishness is the fault of fans like me. How is me accepting mediocrity going to make a difference? None of the squad are going to come on here and think, "Well, we were going to waste Spurs but GoodisonOpheliac says she has low expectations for the club so sod it, let's roll over and allow Harry Kane to dry bum us instead."
 
Total realism I'm afraid.

Survive in the Prem, and don't lose to the RS at Goodison in April by more than 3 goals.
