A year without European football?

Is a year without European football a good or bad thing for us?

If it results in us losing important players than it's a bad thing, If we keep all our players and we are challenging the top 4 it will give us less games to play than our rivals which means we are fresher for the weekend games so in that way it is still bad but it is a cloud with a decent silver lining
 

Bad thing for me because it completely removes half the point of each season. Other than Europe, what are we playing for exactly?
 
You need to be able to do reasonably well in the UEFA cup before you can get anywhere near the Champions League.
