A Tale of Two Tims

Two Tims in our team and both represent excellent value.

Tim Howard is looking very strong between the sticks, we have witnessed him pulling off excellent saves not just yesterday but in other games. Compared to tricky ****, a safe pair of hands and rarely makes a mistake like falling over a sign saying don't play here!! Looking at the rest of the prem, for me Tim-Ho is right up there with the best of them, can anyone truly say they would swap him for any of the others. I wonder if SAF is thinking the transer fee was too small or I should have kept him at OT, we will never know. But at the fee we paid, he is proving he is worth every penny. I can really see him staying here for many years to come and perhaps rivalling the number of games played by Big Nev and Ted Sagar. A helluva of a bargain.

Tim Cahill from downunder, has to be one of the top Aussie players. To think he was languishing away down at Millwall and no other manager had spotted him until Moyes came along. What a bargain, must be the steal of the decade in football terms. I should think there many a manager out there in the prem wishing they had snapped him up for 2 mill. Tim has proven time and again his outstanding ability as an attacking midfielder, Peacock on MOTD2 was comparing him to Lampard that is certainly an accolade but I think Tim is stronger than Lampard in at least one area. That is his ability to jump and head, something we never see Lampard doing. To cap it Tim has now completed a new contract indicating he wants to stay here with EFC for many years to come. That is the commitment and attitude we like to see in our players, please take note VDM and Granny's toy boy.

Anyone else want to comment please feel free to do so as I may have missed some points.

Didn't Palace nearly beat us to his signature only for Jordan to refuse to pay the agent an exorbitant fee? We got lucky there. Good work on Jordan tho, not just because we got Timmy, but because agents are scum and he stood up for his principles. The guy may have a big gob and be a bit east-london cockney dodgy (no offense to anyone from that area) but i like him a lot.

great post on both accounts.

i agree with you, howard is the next southall (4 sizes smaller), our losing streak coincided with wessel's starts, and it seems recently the only balls that have beaten howard have been spectacular, or jokes (one on one against larissa, liverpool penalties, drogba's header)

cahill is easily one of my favourite footballers in the world. he's one of the few players i've seen that can both rocket shots from far out consistently and link up with just about every header coming his way, not to mention the stamina to play so far upfront yet still get back to help with defence. i swear aussies must be cryptonite for chelski (viduka's goal last season, and now tiny tim's sick bike).

i look forward to seeing them both go down in blue history.
