A roving Felli?

Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
Obviously most of the time Fellaini plays in a deeper role than he did yesterday. Do you think that will be his default position this year and we'll use Pienaar, Naismith, Osman and Mirallas in the advanced positions behind Jelavic, or will we see Fellaini in that advanced role permanently, more as he was in his debut season?

Perhaps.

With the added maturity and understanding of the Prem he now has, we can see how effective he can be. In his first year playing high, he was one long yellow card. I tend to like him further back, but who can argue with what we saw tonight? Different horses for different courses, I say. Probably a bit of both. Just have him out there.

No wonder he always looks so gormless.

He played last season fantastically as a defensive player, so not going to knee jerk after one game and say LEAVE HIM THERE MOYLEZ! He's obviously a talent and can play many roles. At least we have the options with him, to slot in where we are weakened by injury or loss of form.

I reckon we'll see him deeper, especially if Osman/Naismith can start making that position their own. But it's real handy tool we can deploy - if we're getting pressed really hard and can't seem to string two passes...? Put Fellaini up there and string those two passes in their penalty box

new to site so take it easy on me but if fellaini is pushed to a more advanced role surely we will need experianced cover in the middle of the park along with gibbo.just a taught !! .....

Moyes now has the availability to rotate depending on the opposition; teams like Utd, Arsenal etc won't be able to cope with Felliani in the final third so I'd expect him to play there against certain teams; then against the lesser technical teams he will be deployed in a more natural midfield position and dominate.

Same with Osman, Niamsith, Mirallas and even Neville; they will be used to suit the opposition

More experienced than Neville??!

Think we could do with slightly less experienced if anything.
