A comforting, interesting point?

.... or ramblings of a naive, optimistic, blinkered fan?

I've finally dared to glance at the league table, We're 11th.

We're better than Bolton, Sunderland, Blackpool, Blackburn and Stoke - the teams currently the teams above us, between the Europa spaces. We'll comfortably finish above all of them.

Mate I had the exact same thought yesterday and posted we would finish 6th or 7th. I'm not sure we're better than Bolton though.

It's a tad presumptuous to say we'll finish above anyone, really. Bolton and Sunderland, even Blackpool, have looked like dangerous, attacking and unified outfits. We've looked none of those things, and that's exactly why they're all above us. Not to mention that at least one of them will have money to spend in the window, when we won't. Take nothing for granted, especially where Everton's concerned.

Go on Danny lad. Give it em! (y)

for me whats most annoying is the fact the league is so open this yr and a lot of us are making the same point but the results aint gonna change if the mentality leading our team aint gonnna change

i still havent got over the WHU game .........second worst defence in the league and we dont start with 1 striker on the pitch thats pathethic

Strike and gutters man. Peaks and Valleys. No middle of the road for us. I think after the first three weeks of January, we will know whether to start beating our chests, or buying bleach in bulk.

Agree with you about those teams, particularly Bolton - the new media darling. But I'm staying optimistic. But that might be because the 49ers (hello Americans!) have taken me to new awful lows already. Everton won't get there. Trust me.

Granted, Europa places reduced due to Birmingham etc - but we'll get that "magnificent 7th"....

What a bummer, though. We come good last season and miss out on Europa by a point or so. This season we come good, and look like finishing in a spot that has been a Europa place for umpteen consecutive years... and then Birmingham win the Carling cup. Birmingham.

The Gods of football do not like Everton.
