That team was so, so close.
Unfortunately we had that absolute failure in Kenwright as a chairman and he failed to back the club.
The most important word here is 'Team'.
The pre-season before was just as bad, leading us on to believing we had a chance of getting Moutinho. Also without turning it into a board debate was the complete lack of backing Moyes got in the 09/10 pre-season was a disgrace, he was afforded very little until the Lescott money came in.
07-09 was our best yet most frustrating team; brilliant to watch but tactical decisions and lack of funding really cost us.
you might have to revise that one
I went 04/05 for breaking the sky club monopoly.
Amazing what a bit of spirit and fight can achieve. That was a great side, really underrated by a lot of blues (you're the only one to vote for it so far...crazy). We had a proper attitude and an iron will to win. Loved all those 1-0's. Rooney left the season before, and Gravesen left in the middle of it...yet we still managed 4th. Proper team that was.
