It's not much to ask for, is it? But I doubt that this squad can achieve even that. It's a sad reflection on the times when 7th in the Premier League is the best Everton can hope for and the majority of the fans (me included) would be happy if this is how the season ended. Unfortunately, I am primed for disappointment.

At the start of the season, the realistic aim was to finish 7th. Some were optimistically hoping for 6th, but that spot will most likely be taken up by Man United who have players like de Gea, Mata, Rooney and Ibrahimovic in their team. They are comfortably better than this Everton team and the top 5 are streets ahead of us.

Looking at the table, I only see West Brom as a threat. I don't think Bournemouth have what it takes and they concede too many goals. The rest are on 24 and below. There are 54 points left to play for so even if Southampton (on 24 points) got an optimistic 30 points from 54, that would still only put them on 54 points, meaning we'd need 25 points from 54 to finish ahead of them. That would be 7 wins and 4 draws, leaving room for 7 defeats.

Easily doable so only West Brom are a realistic threat, and even 8th is progress from our two 11th placed finishes in the past 2 seasons under Martinez.

People can moan about how 7th place isnt good enough for a club like us, but they're deluding themselves. We all want us to win the league, but it's not a realistic aim is it? We're in transition and if we get 7th, then progress will have been made and we will be able to sell the idea of European football next season far easier than in the summer just gone.

7th was are best aim, thing is we are there now, if we were 12th at the present time at least we would a target to fight on for but as it stands I fear we might ease off a bit, which would be a disaster if we dropped places.

If we get the necessary reinforcements in January, there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't finish 7th. Sadly we will be playing once a week due to cup exits and even have the odd weekend off if cup draws between other teams are favourable. Anything less than 7th is unacceptable.

7th was realistically the best we could hope for at the start of the season. 11th two seasons running actually flattered us, we were worse than that.

Some people seem to think we should have overtaken one of Spurs, Man U etc... even though we've got a threadbare squad full of gutless players.

So we all just settle for 7th place, eh?

And what about the manner or style of our play? What about the commitment and passion on display? What about even the inference that the management team have the wherewithal to manage a game, in-game?

So far, the vast majority of performances this season have been significantly below the required level - and that includes the manager himself.

The jury might well still be out on him, and allow another transfer window or two. But he really, really hasn't done anything so far to give me even an ounce of confidence that he's got the minerals to turn things around even with a squad overhaul.

I just don't rate the fella as a manager, and I just don't see him 'getting' Evertkn, or vice-versa.

It's not ALL about the sub-par squad we've currently got; far worse squads have at least show a bit more bite when losing.

If this is what Everton should expect or a for nowadays, then the game is well and truly up and I have no interest in it.

We're Everton, FFS. And an Everton apparently with money behind us for once. I'll NEVER accept or 'aim' for 7th, and certainly not by playing the kind of football being served up.

get in the new players and start putting players in we intend to be playing next season. relegation I wouldn't have thought is an issue, so play these young lads now get them ready for next season, nothing to lose by not doing it. would keep interest in seeing our new side develop I think.
Calvin Lewis, Davis, Holgate, lookman

I've said it numerous times, but this season was a dead duck as of September 1st and handicapped Koemans first season considerably ...
back then the January window seemed a long way off with the squad we had, but we have accumulated 30 points since - sit seventh and fingers crossed we get a handful of hungry, better quality players this month and look to improving in readiness for hopefully the real deal next season.
Or after yesterdays cries of frustration we have another pig of a window and Ron will most definitely be off

It's as good as we can hope for with this squad. So far Koeman has improved us defensively but he has made clear that he doesn't rate most of the squad. Perhaps that's why they've looked half arsed most of the season but we need better players to progress.
