Not that I think there's anything to it, but them owning a stake in Liverpool wouldn't prevent them from selling it if they can close a deal for Everton.

I`m not sure PL rules will allow the same ownership for 2 clubs in the same league, also I`d worry about motives of an owner buying both clubs in the same city...
